Avatar: The Last Airbender is an action game developed by THQ. It is based on the Nickelodeon’s Emmy award-winning American animated television series.
As well as the TV show, the game is set in an Asian-like world in which the main protagonist has his adventures which are fully packed with martial arts and manipulation of the elements such as water, earth, fire, and air.
The word "Avatar" or “Avatara” (in Sanskrit) means incarnation. According to Hindu’s theogony, god descends himself to earth into different Avatars to re-establish balance on earth, especially after a time of high evilness.
The legend starts here: For centuries the world has been divided into four territories, each related to a natural element: The Water Tribe, the Kingdom of Earth, the Fire Nation and the Air Nomads. Despite the hostilities between some of them, peace had prevailed thanks to the figure of the Avatar, a person capable of mastering the four elements equally. But something happened. With the disappearance of the iconic character, the Fire Nation proclaimed themselves as the leaders and began to invade territories.
On the other side of the world, in the Water Tribe, a couple of guys, the young Katara and her brother Sokka, are investigating a massive block of ice and in one of her discussions with her brother, her power hatches the block of ice, releasing a mysterious boy named Aang. Here begins the adventure of our young hero, the last Master of the Wind, which must join Katara, Sokka and a bunch of characters on a journey in which he must stop the evil leaders of the Fire Nation, and declared as the Avatar again, restore peace among the four territories.
